12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. - Ephesians 6:12-13

When we don’t acknowledge that there is an enemy looking to attack us, we love our lives unaware and unprepared. We don’t bother to put on armor and we’re not ready for battle. We can be caught off guard by the dangers is sin, and our testimony can be destroyed. When we do acknowledge there are evil forces at work in this world, we can prepare for the spiritual battle in front of us.

Sometimes we don’t like to acknowledge there is a spiritual battle because we don’t like conflict If you’re anything like me, then you prefer peace. I would rather not to engage people in battle, but would choose to walk away from a fight over engaging in a difficult discussion. I like peace, and I am guilty of avoiding conflict I know I should engage in because peace is easier.

But the Bible is very clear - the Christian life is a battle with the spiritual forces of evil. The enemy never quits, so as believers in Christ, we must learn to be fighters.  When we are unprepared or when we avoid the conflict, we ensure defeat.

We need to live our lives prepared for the battle, not afraid of it. Remember, we know how it ends and we know who wins.
