13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, - Ephesians 6:13-14

Stand firm. It means to be unmovable or unwavering in your stance. God is calling us to stand firm in our faith, despite the many attacks, and to be unwavering in our belief that He will be victorious in the end.

The enemy will do everything in his power to distract us from God’s mission. It seems right when our passion for Christ is renewed, the enemy will sweep in with feelings of fear, doubt, and discouragement. We may be on fire for Him and working to serve His Kingdom, but then roadblocks frustrate our plan and apathy takes over. Or perhaps we are in a season of heartbreaking trials and nothing seems to make any sense anymore. We shake our fists in anger at the sky demanding to know where our loving God is in all this tragedy. The enemy will do everything in his power to distract us from God’s mission.

Paul reminds us to stand firm in the faith in these moments. Stand firm when the apathy or the anger comes, stand firm when the heartache overwhelms you, knowing God is sovereign over it all and He will reign victorious. When those feelings of doubt come, surrender them to the Lord. Ask Him to reveal to you where the enemy has taken a foothold in your heart, and to fill you again with strength and hope. He is walking through this battle with you. When you feel yourself falter, when you find yourself struggling to stand firm, call out to Him and allow Him to restore your hope.
