1 Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!  - Psalm 105:1-2

When you look up gratitude in the dictionary, you find it says, “the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful”. Genuine gratitude goes beyond the obligation of saying thank you, and is a deeper, heartfelt appreciation of what has been given to you.

God knows your heart. He knows what He’s done for you, and He can accurately assess your level of gratitude for all He has given you. He has clear knowledge of your heart response to His grace. He knows how thankful you are for what He’s doing in your life. If He were sitting in front of you today, would He be pleased with your level of gratitude?

We are reminded in these verses that our thankfulness should be spoken out loud. We are to sing His praises and tell all of His wondrous works. If this was the case, if we were truly sharing our gratitude for God’s goodness in our lives, then every single person we encounter would know of His grace. The people we work with and live near, our friends and our family, would have a clear understanding of the debt we owe Him for what He has given to us, and how incredibly thankful we truly are. If the people you encounter on a regular basis were to be questioned about you, would they report a level of gratitude that is unmatched to others?

When we choose thankfulness, He changes us. Faith grows in a heart of gratitude, and impacts those around us in profound ways.
