Journal Entry ~ 08/23/19

So Abraham called the name of that place, "The LORD will provide"; as it is said to this day, "On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided." - Genesis 22:14

The Lord will provide. This should be our constant meditation - in times of adversity, in times of prosperity - we need to remind ourselves of this truth. He sees, He knows what is best for us, and He will provide it. 

My heart was anxious for a few situations that I am praying about for my children when I first sat down in the morning with Him. It's so tempting as a parent to pray for things to work out for your children, for things to go easy for them - and even more tempting to be disappointed when they don't go the way we hoped or prayed. 

But He knows what I ultimately want...and that is for Him to bring them to a knowing relationship with Him. He will provide. Whatever it is that needs to happen for my children to know the Lord intimately, I surrender them to Him because I know He will provide. 

Focusing on this truth brings peace to my anxious heart, and keeps my eyes on Him.

Medical Update ~ 09/27/17

Today was a challenging day.  I met with the oncologist to discuss chemo as part of my treatment plan.  The oncologist explained there were 3 additional invasions discovered during surgery, so there were actually 4 isolated invasions in the breast tissue.  To review - my diagnosis is Ductal Carcinoma in situ (DCIS) with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.  All 4 of the invasions are HER2+ (aggressive) and hormone negative (recurrent).  My oncologist walked us through the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCM) guidelines for treatment of this type of aggressive, recurrent cancer - chemo and radiation. The good news is God had already moved the mountain in my heart opposing chemo, and rested me in a place of acceptance.  While my initial prayers focused on not having to have chemo as part of my treatment, after hearing I had multiple invasions, He moved me to a place of understanding that chemo is a necessary part of my treatment.  If there were 4 invasions in the sample they took, there co

Medical Update 11/09/17

Hi friends ~ Thank you for the way you continue to check in on me by reading these updates.  Your support and encouragment remind me that I am not alone in this journey, and your presence on this path strengthens me. 💗 I'm sitting in the chair receiving my 6th chemo treatment as I type this.  6th!!  That's halfway through the Taxol!  My emotions are completely divided - part of me wants to dance with excitement for making it halfway through the first step, while the other part of me sees the six treatments I still have left as an eternity.  I will still receive the Herceptin for a year, but the end of Taxol means I'm closer to the radiation treatments, which mean I'm closer to returning to work and regaining a sense of normalcy in my life.  There are some days I'm content to stay on this path, and some days that I just want to get off the ride.  But God has been faithful through it all. Medical Update ~ 10/02/17

I haven't been on a run for almost a month because of the number of surgeries I've been through since my diagnosis, but I rose early on Friday and ran 2 miles because I was told I could and I should go for a run.  I'm so glad I did.  It felt amazing to get out and feel like myself again, and it helped me mentally prepare for yet another surgery. By the time I got to the hospital Friday morning, I was ready for the next step. On Friday, I had a mediport surgically implanted - they tell me it will make the chemo infusions easier.  Everything has happened so quickly over the past couple of weeks that I didn't give much thought to the surgical procedure of implanting the mediport.  I was literally surprised as I woke up from surgery on Friday by the amount of pain I was in.  I guess I thought it wouldn't hurt very much.  It did.  Saturday was a rough day as I woke up unable to move my arm without an incredible amount of pain.  The pain diminishes a little each day, bu
